Kaufman Development is seeking a Development Project Manager to join its team. The Development Project Manager will work closely with Kaufman’s Director of Development and team members to lead all aspects of the development process, including: site selection, acquisition due diligence, product-type/program layout, zoning, entitlement, design/plan development, permit/approvals, and select cross-functional projects.


  • Identifying and analyzing potential developments markets and sites
  • Building relationships with brokers, site owners and community councils
  • Management of third-party architects, engineers, and other consultants
  • Generating letters of intent
  • Assisting in the preparation of preliminary financial models for potential new development projects
  • Management of the negotiation and contracting process with third-party consultants
  • Responsibility for all zoning, entitlements and other governmental approvals
  • Ownership of the development process, timelines and budgets
  • Management of acquisition due diligence process
  • Facilitate transition from development to construction
  • Assist in cross-functional projects such as FF&E selection, AV vendor design, and grant applications


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 years of real estate development or related experience
  • Experience with Smartsheet or other project management software preferred
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Adept at meeting multiple deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with working through ambiguity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Relevant multifamily and mixed-use experience is preferred
